How to calculate the Commodity Channel Index
Paste prices oldest-first, one value or row per bar — straight from a spreadsheet or CSV export. Use “Sample data” to try it instantly.
Worked example
- TP = 105, its 20-bar average = 100, mean deviation = 2.5.
- CCI = (105 − 100) ÷ (0.015 × 2.5) = 133 — above +100.
How to interpret the Commodity Channel Index
Roughly 70–80% of CCI values fall between −100 and +100 thanks to the 0.015 constant. Moves above +100 mark unusual strength (a possible new uptrend, or an overextended market); below −100 unusual weakness.
